The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. LGBTQ Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. As Pride month comes to an end, lets have a quick history lesson on how this much needed month of celebration, love, acceptance, and appreciation began. Many people have participated in the celebratory events that occur during the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer ( LGBTQ) Pride Month, but many are unaware of the origin of how this month came to be.
